The views that this property have to offer are something out of a movie! the tradition maintained and honoured is surely worth experiencing. the in room dining service is an ammmaaaazing value. quantity, price and quality! we were on our honeymoon and the hotel provided a cute plate filled with strawberries and cream for us with a sweet cut out 'congratulations' paper heart.
It is impossible to get from the hotel to city or train/bus station on any form of public transport. Since the hotel is so'far out there' nothing passes by and you are forced to take an over priced hotel transfer. No telephones to make outgoing calls in the rooms. so if u need to call anyone, it needs to be done through the reception area in public while a staff member turns on his 'stop-watch' to record the number of minutes used up while you are speaking :s
Service was excellent, rooms were very comfortable, food was great!
It was rather inaccessible- away from civilization. I asked for toothpaste but it did not materialise at all. At the peak season, it was rather expensive and costs on Booked.net do not include all taxes, which made the total rather expensive. The worst of all for us, was that even though it was stated on the website that there was accommodation available for our driver, these quarters were sub par as there was insufficient heating in the quarters. While catering to the whims and fancies of tourists, and while giving the impression that their drivers/ guides have been catered for, it will be ethical and only decent for quarters of the drivers/ guides to be decent enough for the low night temperatures experienced in the area. I found it rather hypocritical that the hotel boasted "free accommodation" for drivers and yet this was not most ideal.
Amazing view, friendly staff and yummy food. I recommend to bòok aĺl meals in the package. If you go for a picnic request for picnic basket for extra charge in case yor lunch not included in package. I liked the tea plucking experience. I liked the hotel decoration and atmosphere. They have Halal food. I will come back for sure to enjoy the amazing weather, view and service
I liked everything about it. But you need to consider the following facts. The hotel is far away 6 to 7 hours drive from Airport considering the nature of roads. It is better to rent a good van. You need a car for 30 to 40 minutes to reach Nuwara Eliya center. You have no shops around the hotel and even in the center very limited shops. Dont go for the hotel natural walk if it is raining. The weather is unexpected so take warm and light cloths
Range and quality of food was superb Staff could not have been more helpful
Staff were attentive, food amazing, views splendid, tea picking and nature walks were really interesting and enjoyable.
Walls between rooms let noise through to the next room and the people in the room directly above could be very easily heard walking around.
Location was excellent.
Booked and paid for an Executive room on the fourth floor. A complete waste of money, as these rooms are no different to any of the other rooms in the hotel. Was supposed to have a "Private Butler" ha-ha - more like Bill and Ben the Flower Pot men !
Great location, amazing property
Everything has a price
We booked half board one nite stay, the set menu food was excellent, breakfast full of choice from local to international, excellent F&B service. The room is nice and confortable .wonderful tea experience with the tea plucking activity.amazing view at the top of the tea plantation.
Rooms stuffy air, felt dirty Staff not attentive or welcoming, but polite Wasnt told there was a pool, until I discovered it by chance
old world charm, excellent view from the hotel. Can spend a lot of time in the tea gardens.bCourteous staff. Surprise gifts on checking out was a nice gesture
Had difficulty in reaching the property as its 14km away from city centre. very expensive hotel
The staff went the extra mile to help and support. The setting and location were idilic.
Beautiful but remote.
The hotel is built where it was an old tea factory. The build is well adapted to Hotel. The entire region and surrounding view is fantastic. A place to relax. A new experience.
We did the tea picking tour which was very interesting. The food is top notch. The rooms are well equipped and comfortable and the property has a lot of charm
Very nice design and converted from tea factory. we have a front facing high level room with great view.
Food is ok. Staff is not very professional. For example, dosa (Indian pancake) was made bag... Same as hoppers.
Nice rooms with a comfortable bed and amazing views. Great staff - Nothing is too much trouble! Good breakfast - particularly the Sri Lankan Breakfast! If you have a chance to dine on the train then do, the 'Station Master' gave us a wonderful experience and the food really was incredible!
There were no real negative points about the hotel, only that it is very expensive and so we only stayed for one night.
